A fun, safe, and structured introduction to riding and horse care.

Weekly sessions designed for beginners and first-time riders to experience horses, build confidence, and learn the basics in a supportive environment.

Riding & horse experience

Daily guided riding sessions combined with hands-on horse care and grooming. Instruction is tailored to each child in a safe, supervised setting.

Our 75-acre farm provides space to learn, explore, and connect with horses in a calm, outdoor setting.

What campers do each day

Riding & horse time

Campers participate in guided riding sessions designed to build balance, control, and confidence at their level.

Horsemanship & care

Hands-on experience with grooming, handling, and understanding horses—learning how to safely work around them.

Horse-themed games and interactive activities that reinforce what they learn while keeping the day fun and engaging.

Creative & hands-on time

Projects and activities connected to barn life—something meaningful to take home each week.

End-of-week experience

A relaxed riding session where campers can show what they’ve learned in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

A sample day

Each day follows a consistent rhythm to help campers feel comfortable and confident:

  • Morning: learn, groom, and ride
  • Midday: lunch and structured activities
  • Afternoon: additional horse time, learning, and games

Sample daily schedule

A typical camp week runs Monday through Friday, about 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. We alternate two weekly programs through the summer (Week 1 and Week 2 patterns). Times and activities may be adjusted before your session.

    Getting to know you game (introduce names, how long you've been riding, and one fun fact about yourself). Barn rules. Barn tour (end with students putting belongings in observation room).

  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM Lesson (in observation room): barn/horse safety

    Safe behavior around horses/horse body language. Horse blind spots - how to safely approach. What to do in the ring if an emergency happens. Helmet safety and selection. Students get horse assignments.

  • 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM Groom and tack your horse
  • 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Riding Lesson
  • 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Put horses away

    Make sure to pick hooves and brush out saddle pad marks. Snack.

  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Craft and Game

    Craft: make a nametag lanyard. Game: horse behavior charades.

  • 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM Lunch
  • 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM Lesson (in observation room): review morning lesson; grooming

    Grooming tools and their uses. Proper grooming order. Why grooming matters. Helmet selection. Students receive horse assignments.

    Craft: name a nametag lanyard/coloring pages. Game: scavenger hunt (one counselor hides grooming equipment in child-friendly spots). Find different kinds of brushes around the barn; e.g., "find a curry comb", "find a soft brush".

Tuesday — Day 2
  • 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM Arrival & Check in

    Barn safety rules.

  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM Lesson (in observation room): tack

    Review yesterday's lesson. Using pieces, explain the tack needed (grip pad, saddle pad, half pad, saddle, bridle, boots, etc). Parts of the saddle (with activity sheet). Students called individually to identify parts of the saddle. Students get their horse assignments.

  • 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Riding Lesson
  • 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Put horses away

    Pick hooves and brush out saddle pad marks. Snack.

    Craft: horse vision board. Game: musical stalls.

  • 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM Lunch

    Review morning's lesson. Parts of the bridle (with activity sheet). Students individually identify the parts of the bridle. Students get horse assignments.

    Review yesterday's lesson. How to tack your horse (practice on chair first, then demo). Have students try individually on a pony. Students get their horse assignments.

  • 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Riding Lesson
  • 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Put horses away

    Pick hooves and brush out saddle pad marks. Snack.

    Craft: tie die/coloring pages. Game: tool toss (toss grooming tool into bucket; must name the tool before throwing).

Thursday — Day 4

    Barn safety rules.

  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM Lesson (in observation room): tack

    Review yesterday's lesson. Discuss tack care (products used to clean tack, why we clean them, temperature controlled environment). Students get opportunity to clean tack. Students get their horse assignments.

  • 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM Groom and tack your horse
  • 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Riding Lesson
  • 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Put horses away

    Pick hooves and brush out saddle pad marks. Snack.

  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Craft/Game

    Craft: homemade treats. Game: "horseless hunters" (students run around the ring and jump over a course).

  • 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM Lunch
